The Monaco Residence is a four-story, 26,000 square foot uniquely modern structure located in the rolling hills of Birmingham Township, near Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. It includes a three-story atrium at one end and a 21 foot wide sky tunnel projecting out of the roof line at the other end. The exterior plaza is built over an underground 10 car drive-thru garage.
Structural elements consist of metal deck supporting elevated concrete slabs, steel frame first, second and third floors and poured-in-place curved concrete foundation walls supported on concrete spread footings. Roof and exterior wall framing consists of light gauge metal framing. The plaza and atrium are supported on wide-flange steel beams, which span approximately 43 feet across the drive-thru garage.
With the project complete, the residence has become a point of interest in Birmingham Township, frequently drawing passing motorists to stop and admire.
